Most of job we work on has different phases, and between phases there can be few months up to a year. So if you have your job set to clock you in on arrival or clock out on departure, it becomes a nuisance then you just passing by that area and it clocks you in, especially when your job happens to be next to freeway that is traveled a lot. So ability to enable or disable job would come handy for this. Or may be showing progress of job like lead, work started, work complete, closed. Or just pause that job.
